Hi Bloggers!
March has been a great month. We're keeping busy here at Cakes Corp, as usual.
Lane is officially a toddler. Along with his first birthday came tantrums and biting. Yes, I did say biting. We have had three "incident" reports sent home from daycare because Lane has bit other babies! We've been told there have been fights over toys and Lane pulls out the big guns and uses his teeth. Apparently this is a very normal phase but it came sooner than we expected.
His daycare teachers do enjoy him a lot though (despite the previously mentioned incidents), they always have a cute story to relay to us in the AM and PM. He is quite an affectionate boy and is sure to give his teachers hugs when their shifts end.
I'm trying to read "The Happiest Toddler on the Block" as fast as I can. I didn't realize how tricky toddlers can be! He is "25 pounds of rage" when he want to be. (A Daddy quote)
The good news is he tries to say "Dog dog" and "Gus Gus" (our cat). His favorite thing to say, by far, is Da Da. He pretty much calls everything he likes Da Da but when he means his Daddy, he uses a different inflection, I promise!!
Saturday at the park he started being able to go from a seated position to standing all by himself. Up til this point he has needed something (a wall, piece of furniture, or a mom/dad leg) to help pull himself up. It makes it easier to go from sitting to walking or running.
We just love every minute with him, even the tantrums can be quite amusing. It's hard for us not to laugh. He's full of smiles almost all of the time. I just can't describe what a great feeling it is to have a little fat, smiling man running towards you, arms outstretched with a huge smile on his face, ready to give you a big hug. Jason and I are always commenting about how much we love this guy.
Jason is busy at work and recently got back from a trip to San Diego for three days. The funny part about it is that I grew up about five minutes away from where he was staying in Rancho Bernardo. How crazy is that? He loved the how beautiful it was there and was impressed with how health-conscious the menus are at restaurants. Now he has a different perspective on me and my healthy eating.
Jason also got to go on his car tour in February that I gave him for Christmas. He really enjoyed it, see the pictures below.
I'm keeping busy with work and running. I don't have any races planned right now but I'm keeping my running up. There is a pic below from the Make A Wish Foundation 5K I ran with running friends.
We made a visit to cousin Caleb at Children's Hospital and had a great time riding around with him in his wagon. It was lots of fun!
